SRG, the leader in the Life Sciences human capital industry, is looking for a full-time, contract Sr. Product Design Engineer to join our client's Medical Device product development team in Irvine, California.

*This position can only accept W2 candidates, we cannot do C2C at this time.

Must Haves:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, biomedical engineering, or a related field is required.
  • 3D Solid Model CAD and drafting training is required, preferably Solidworks.
  • 8-10 years of experience in product design for medical devices or similar products is required.
  • Knowledge and experience in application of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing), in alignment with the ASME Y14.5 GD&T Standard is required
  • Proficiency in Design for Manufacturing (DFM)
  • Attention to detail in drafting and modeling
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified SolidWorks Professional) are desired

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with R&D, Manufacturing, and Quality Assurance teams to create and update product models and detailed drawings
  • Create, modify, and update detailed 3D models and 2D drawings for medical device components and assemblies using SolidWorks CAD software
  • Collaborate with R&D and Manufacturing Engineering teams to enhance existing product designs, incorporating Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles and ensuring all drawings are properly dimensioned and comply with ASME Y14.5 GD&T standards
  • Analyze and optimize designs to improve manufacturability, reduce costs, and enhance performance without compromising quality
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive design documentation, including CAD drawings, design history files, and engineering change orders (ECOs), ensuring accuracy and traceability
